Clay Aiken was born November 30, 1978 and grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina. From a young age, Aiken always wanted to perform for people and he did with different musical performances and being a part of the Raleigh Boys Choir. When it came time to go to college Aiken was planning on studying special education but instead he auditioned and became part of the phenomenon known as American Idol.
