Charlie Hunter grew up in Berkley, California with a mother who repaired guitars for a living. Hunter got his first guitar when he was 12-years-old and took lessons from Joe Satriani. After Hunter graduated from Berkley High School, he found his calling in jazz. In the late '80s, Hunter had a seven string guitar made special for him and he learned to master it.
